Why Buy a 49cc Scooter? It's easy...

You buy a 49cc scooter in Colorado Springs so you don't have to get a motorcycle license. It is considered a motorized bicycle and due to the engine size, it does not require a special license. All you will need a registration permit that costs approximately $5.88 and you register for it at Department of Motorized Vehicles. You can even do it online and it will be mailed to you in about two weeks.

You will also need insurance for your 49cc scooter, but this costs about $120-180 per year.  I was able to wrap all this up in about 30 days.

A 49cc scooter is perfect if you live in areas like downtown Colorado Springs where the streets are level. The scooter will perform perfectly for the speed limits in areas like these and you'll be able to ride with traffic on the roads like a motorcycle without a motorcycle license.

However, if you live in a very hilly area of town, you should consider a larger engine scooter like a 100cc scooter, or install a big bore kit up to 100cc (called a 100cc big bore kit).

A 49 cc scooter will conk-out trying to push it up steep hills and will be really annoying. Bit the bullet and upgrade your scooter with a bore kit.

Plus, if you've purchased one of our Chinese 49 cc scooters then your cost savings is already about $2200, so reinvest it in creating a high performing scooter. It just makes sense. For the fraction of the cost (about 1/5 the cost), you can get a 100 cc motor installed in a new 49 cc scooter for 1/3 of the cost of a non-Chinese made 49 cc scooter.

This is not legal advice. Be sure to consult with your attorney and state regulations and/or with the Department of Motor Vehicles.
